construction materials

The materials used to construct the resort have been carefully selected, whilst we are aiming to use the most environmentally friendly materials, we are very aware that true sustainability has to take into account lifetime.

For this reason, key parts of our infrastructure (emergency buildings, energy generation plants and emergency shelters) will be constructed using traditional methods.

Rooftops

Recycled clay tiles will be used for most of the rooftops in the resort.

The reason for this is that they enable the installation of solar panels, the collection of rainwater and they add to the aesthetics of the project.

There is the additional benefit of them being constructed on site - however, this is subject to further soil testing.

paths and roadways

For roadways that will experience heavy regular use we will employ and engineered, permeable structure.

This type of construction allows for heavy use whilst enabling grasses to grow throughout. This reduces the amount of covered land, enables infiltration and adds to the amount of vegetation cover.

For the paths that will only receive foot traffic or light machinery, we will either use natural grasses, natural stone or natural clay bricks.

Walls

Wherever possible all the walls will be breathable and permeable, this will allow for natural cooling and airflow.

Most of this construction will be of slatted planks or bamboo.

Where the environment needs to be controlled (air-conditioned spaces), privacy is required or the structural strength is paramount the walls will be constructed of packed earth or more traditional methods.
